چکیده
Although coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) serves as an antioxidant and energy source for spermatozoa when added to stallion semen before cooling or freezing, the effects of feeding CoQ10 on quality have not been studied. We assessed daily oral ingestion CoQ10-ubiquinol by stallions their plasma concentrations quality. Seven mature Andalusian ate 1g ubiquinol/day 4 weeks followed a 4-week washout period. Four horses initially completed additional control period without ubiquinol. Blood was sampled weekly determination concentrations. Ejaculates were collected every two total motility (TM), progressive (PM), viability (V) after 24hours (T1), immediate cryopreservation (T2), (T3). Ingesting ubiquinol resulted in increase concentration (P < .001). Two improved V with all treatments (T1: P = .007; T2: .05; T3: .01) PM T3 .04). In five stallions, TM also T1 .01 .02, respectively) increased T2 .03). Overall, parameters within first 2 supplementation, plateaued at end supplementation persisted discontinuing until sampling (8 weeks). Feeding 1 g breeding freezing 5 7 stallions. This could be important improving reproductive efficiency

Coenzyme Q10 is a vitamin-like substance used in the treatment of a variety of disorders primarily related to suboptimal cellular energy metabolism and oxidative injury. Studies supporting the efficacy of coenzyme Q10 appear most promising for neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson's disease and certain encephalomyopathies for which coenzyme Q10 has gained orphan drug status. Results in ...

While some complementary and alternative techniques have been studied scientifically, high-quality data regarding safety, effectiveness, and mechanism of action are limited or controversial for most therapies. Whenever possible, it is recommended that practitioners be licensed by a recognized professional organization that adheres to clearly published standards. In addition, before starting a n...

CoQ10 was discovered by Dr. Frederick L. Crane at the University of Wisconsin in the late 1950s during his research on the biochemistry of the mitochondrial electron transport chain, also known as the respiratory chain. The pure substance isolated from beef heart mitochondria was sent to Dr. Karl Folkers at the pharmaceutical company Merck for identification and elucidation of its structure. It...

Plasma coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) response to oral ingestion of various CoQ10 formulations was examined. Both total plasma CoQ10 and net increase over baseline CoQ10 concentrations show a gradual increase with increasing doses of CoQ10. Plasma CoQ10 concentrations plateau at a dose of 2400 mg using one specific chewable tablet formulation. The efficiency of absorption decreases as the dose increases....

Introduction Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is a compound found naturally in virtually every cell in the human body. Because of its ubiquitous presence in nature and its quinone structure (similar to that of vitamin K), CoQ10 is also known as ubiquinone. CoQ10 is a fat-soluble substance whose primary role is as a vital intermediate of the electron transport system in the mitochondria. Adequate amounts of...
